Here's a just started project, Feb '09
Designing and building a shaddow box display case for early 1950's Fender stratocaster guitars -we're using a 1954 reissue model - the case will be of archival / conservation quality utilizing acid free materials and will include a hydrothermometer to monitor temperature and realtive humidity. No internal lighting will be used because of heat generation and the glazing will be UV filtering. We are using mats of tweed, leather and red velvet to evoke the original hardshell case that the early fenders were issued with and the furntiure finish frame to compliment the natural wood of the neck and fingerboard as well as the beautiful two tone tobacco sunburst finish on the guitar body.
These pictures show the planning stage - the finished product will be posted later.
A recently completed black slate plaque. brought from Galway, Ireland. Hand engraved and inscibed on the back - a little creative thinking ensured that the client will always be able to read the inscription and enjoy thier special memento of old Ireland. Note the frame - it is a perfect match for the slate. the mat and mount board are finished in fine linen in light pale green.
